Amanda Baggs on Wired

There is a great article on Wired about Amanda… find it here.

After watching her youtube videos, I was very inspired and wrote a piece for last year’s RPM Challenge. It’s called “Song For Amanda.”

RPM… a sample…

…just a quick sample of one of the songs from this year’s RPM Challenge CD. By the way, the band name is going to be “warrenpeece” this year, not sure of the CD name. Anyway, here’s a rough version of “educated guest:”

rpm has been kicking my butt…

Really. I haven’t had much spare time over the last few weeks, trying to spend any spare moment on the CD. Some of the tracks are really coming together… while others… well, just need some more work. It’s interesting because right now I’m not sure we have a full 10 songs… but the challenge is 10 songs OR 35 minutes, so I think we’ll most likely go with the latter… might have to be a few more guitar solos then I planned. That’s OK, many of my friends tell me I should play more guitar on my CDs, so there we go.

In other news… I finally received my first shipment of the “42 Shades of Gray” CD, my RPM Challenge contribution for last year. It looks like there are some problems with the paypal buy button, which I will try and fix soon… though with the RPM Challenge… not sure HOW soon.

Jennifer sent a few changes to the Liquid State artwork, so now it’s up to me to get the package uploaded for duplication. Again, might not happen until after 2/29, but if so, it will happen right afterwards.

Same story with the Inglas CD… artwork is ready, CD is done… now it’s ME holding things up I’m afraid there too. However, in March I’ll get ‘em all out the door.

We’re also planning to release this year’s RPM Challenge CD in March… though obviously the CD artwork might take a bit of time, but hopefully not that long. I haven’t heard back from John about my band name idea… but I’m suggesting the name “Warren Peace.” We’ll see what John thinks.

one up… more to come

42 shades coverThe 42 Shades of Gray CD is now available for purchase on the music page. There are two different ways to get a copy… either a full download for $4 via paypal, or the traditional CD jewel box package through my vendor Kunaki.com. More details are available on the Music page.

I really wanted to do the Radiohead model, of offering “pay what you want” downloads, but the limiting factor is probably my technical skills. $4 seems a good price anyway for a digital download of the entire CD with artwork.

In the meantime, John Rose and I are still working on our RPM Challenge effort for 2008. Today is Sunday, and we are both going to be working in our respective studios today, likely with a conversation or two over iChat to make sure we’re on the same page. How is it coming? I don’t really know… hopefully I can spend some quality time today starting to really shape a few songs, but there is a ton of work to be done and not a lot of time to do it.

I received the Liquid State proof, and it looks great to me. I sent it on to Jennifer, but we should have the CD on sale later this month.

No news on the Inglas CD… I thought I had the final artwork, but it turns out I don’t… still waiting for the final artwork so I can have some proofs made, then I’ll have the CDs available here shortly afterwards.
